Husky Eye Tears and How To Remove Them

Many common dog food ingredients can cause staining in some dogs. What are you feeding? Your water can be the problem, too.

Wipe them with a moist warm cloth. Has your new puppy been to the vet? Some breeds tend to do this, but I like to cover all my bases and get my dogs checked out. Any new breed you get should soon get a checkup at the vet.

You should also be checking your huskies eyes daily for problems and one of the first places you will see a problem will more than likely be an unusually excessive amount of tearing. You should check the conjunctiva (the white part of the eye) daily. It should never be pink or yellow in appearance. The tearing should just be normal clear fluid you should never see green or yellow gunk. Now that clear tear fluid can change if not kept cleaned away into brownish colored goobers that can turn hard in the hair. This is more normal but it should be cleaned away daily and not let to get to this stage. Also the eyes should be clear and bright and not cloudy or foggy looking.

Some issues that are abnormal such as Intropia (a curling of the eyelid into the eye causing the eyelashes to irritate the eye) will cause excessive tearing. This issue can be very serious. It can be corrected surgically. It can be a genetic issue in some breeds. I have heard of it in the standard huskies but its more rare. Another thing to look for is Cherry eye (a redness of the membrane at the corner of the eye). This is also a genetic issue and will need to be looked at by a vet. If you see anything out of the ordinary please consult your vet ASAP.

I have found that buy feeding a dog plain live cultured yogurt this helps to reduce the amount of tearing. We believe it has something to do with the Acidophilus in the yogurt. Yogurt is also a great way to help keep the yeast down that grows in the ears and makes ear infections. It also does wonders for a dog with a dry coat. So you can see how valuable yogurt is in a dogs diet. I personally give about 1/2 table spoon of yogurt mixed in the food for Toy huskies and 1 table spoon of yogurt mixed in the food for Standard huskies.

Angel Eyes is the first product specifically designed for both dogs and cats to eliminate unsightly tear stains from the inside out. Angel Eyes also helps eliminate staining around their mouth and their coats due to licking.

Training a Husky From The Start

Huskies are an extremely versatile breed who will adapt well to most household situations. Apart from being recognized as one of the most intelligent dog breeds they are also good natured, have a beautiful even temperament and thrive on human companionship. Plus they have that lovely distinctive appearance - Huskies stand out in any crowd!

There are many, many different husky training techniques for an even wider variety of training activities so this section will be continually growing with new information as we have time to add it.  Please check back often!

The Standard Husky is one of the oldest pure bred dogs. They were fully developed around the 16th century, most probably in Central Europe (it's not completely clear). In the early days Huskies were highly sought after for their outstanding hunting ability. They would retrieve birds from the swamps and lakes all day long. To this day you'll find that Huskies still love the water.

Purchasing your Husky from a reputable Husky puppy breeder will give you the best chance of bringing a physically and mentally sound dog into your life. A good Husky puppy breeder only breeds from top quality breeding stock (who have been thoroughly screened) and each mating will be carefully planned in advance. Husky breeders play a crucial role in the health of their chosen breed going forward. They are also responsible for beginning the Husky puppy socialization process in each individual puppy - you will then continue this process as soon as your puppy arrives home.

The Husky puppy's dam and breeder start the socialization process at the kennel. Now it's your turn to take the lead and show your Husky to the world. Socializing your puppy is very important if you want a dog that fits into the human world and is a good companion who is enjoyed by everyone.

Much of housebreaking is not training the puppy, but making it easier for your Husky puppy, you, and your carpet while its body to catches up to its instincts.  At around 8 weeks when the puppy goes to its new home, the time from when it realizes it has to go, and when it can't wait any longer is a matter of seconds.  Only time will fix that.  You can hardly be expected to be attentive enough to avoid all accidents  There is no sense punishing the Husky puppy for your inattention.  It is not fair to punish you either, but you still have to clean it up if you didn't have the puppy outside in time.

Keep the pup confined to a specific area, such as the kitchen or den, until he is trained and fairly mature. Use baby gates and he will quickly learn that he is welcome in certain areas of the house and not welcome in other areas. And, of course, put him into his crate when you leave home. He will be comfortable in his house and he will sleep until you come home.

Husky Training - What You Need To Know

Dog training opens up the lines of communication between you and your husky. A real form of two way communication is established through positive non violent dog training. You and your dog will learn to interact with each other in a mutually respectful manner, based on co-operation and understanding. A well socialized and trained dog will become a fantastic life-long companion, work mate and friend. An untrained dog can quickly become a burden and an endless source of frustration.

It is fairly easy to train your husky to sit and will only take a couple of minutes a day and some of his favorite treats. Try to be enthusiastic when training your husky, this will get your husky to get excited with you. Just like people, huskiess are very social animals that crave love and security. Because of this, we find behavioral patterns that account for both their playfulness and trainability. The more excited you are the more likely they will listen to you. Remember, tricks are just for fun – you should never get mad or punish your husky for not doing a trick right.

As you can see, starting a dog training career is a serious choice that needs to be investigated thoroughly before you begin. Let's say that you have decided you will put in the time and effort necessary for a successful dog training career because you love dogs, want to work with them everyday, and out committed to being a knowledgeable, skillful dog trainer. The next big question is how to do you start your dog training career?

Call your husky over to you and make sure you give him a chance to spot that treat in your hand– show but dont give! Make sure your husky is in a standing. Then, give the command SIT. A well trained dog appreciates the guidance, structure and boundaries you provide through training. Get him in to a sitting position and praise/reward every time he successfully sits.

Keep practicing this over and over again until your husky sits without you placing him in the sitting position. Training relieves much of the frustration and stress that exists between you and your dog. He will learn that when you say the command “Sit” and he goes into a sitting position he gets a nice treat and lots of praise! It's far better than having a nervous, anxious and confused dog who is continually being yelled at for things he/she doesn't even understand. This makes a mental note that he should be able to quickly remember.

Husky That Bite - Training For a Better Relationship

Huskies are not known to be agressive dogs in most cases but minor nipping and biting can be problematic. You see, as puppies, they have a need to discover and explore the surroundings and since they have no hands, only option is to chew through things. Think of them as babies who grab at everything in sight to feel the texture and material, because that is exactly what the little husky pup is trying to do.

All creatures have some sort of defense mechanism. Husky dogs have three ways of dealing with an aggressor: fight, flight, or avoidance. It is our responsibility to teach them in ways they can understand.  The trainer will show the dog that in certain situations a person is a threat and can be dealt with using the skills taught in prey drive. In this way, prey drive and defense drive work together. In essence, the husky is taught that when given a command that the aggressor is a real threat and he should use his skills to fight the threat.  This is because your attitude, patience and effort towards dog training for obedience are so critical to the husky training success.

Little pups are known to bite and nip at each other when they play and whenever one pup bites a bit too hard the other puppy stops playing or yelps which is how they learn that biting too hard is not a good thing. If your puppy is biting, put him on time out. It will be like saying, no I don't want to play with you anymore. With proper husky training you should get rid of this problem in no time.

Another very important free dog training tip is to make sure everyone in your home acts consistently whenever you are training your dog. It is very important that you make sure that everyone in the house knows what you are doing during the dog training, and how to provide supportive measures whenever needed.

When it comes to dealing with serious bites that come from agression, then you better get in touch with a profesional dog trainer. An inexperienced dog owner can worsen the problem so don't be ashmed to seek some extra help.
